Description
Half day hike "Saiano - Montebello"
Along the river Marecchia you first walk to the sanctuary of Madonna di Saiano and then through the typical landscape of Romagna, characterized by vines and olive trees, to the castle of Montebello (walking time approx. 3 hours, ascent approx. 350 m, descent approx. 100 m).
Full day hike "Pietrella Guidi - Sant'Agata Feltria"
The all-day hike begins in Petrella Guidi, a medieval village situated in the upper part of the Marecchia valley. The path leads towards the summit of Monte Ercole and then down to the old town with its Rocca del Fregoso fortress and medieval palace. From here you have a wonderful view, from the Adriatic Sea to the Tuscan mountains (walking time approx. 4.5 hours, ascent approx. 450 m, descent approx. 400 m).
Half day hike "Villa Verucchio - Verucchio"
The hike begins at the old Franciscan monastery of Villa Verucchio. The path leads us up hills covered with vineyards and olive trees to the old village of Verucchio, which rises majestically on the first cliffs of the Marecchia valley (walking time approx. 2.5 hours, ascent approx. 200 m, descent approx. 50 m).
Full day hike "Scavolino - Carpegna - Pennabilli"
Today a full day hike through the Sasso Simone e Simoncello nature parks awaits you. The trail begins in the small village of Scavolino. From here it goes up to Monte Carpegna, exhausting, but at the top there is a splendid view of the Marecchia valley up to the first mountains of the Tuscan Apennines (walking time approx. 5 hours, ascent approx. 690 m, descent approx. 550 m).
Half day hike "Sant'Igne - San Leo"
Shortly after the start of the hike, you will find the Sant'Igne monastery, situated in a clearing below the castle of San Leo. From here, you climb up, through a fresh forest, to San Leo Castle, almost like an eagle's nest on a rock that was once almost inaccessible. In the village of San Leo you will find the majestic castle, the old cathedral, the castle tower and the characteristic shops (walking time approx. 3 hours, ascent approx. 220 m, descent approx. 220 m).
